Evaluation & Treatment

Our capstone service offers a total solution for identifying and treating an injured workers’ mental or psychosocial issues. PsychGroup can expedite the scheduling of treatment through our nationwide network of behavioral health care providers who are well versed in addressing work related injuries.

 

Neuropsychological Evaluations

Neuropsychological evaluations are indicated for injured workers’ who have suffered from some type of brain injury, ranging from mild to traumatic. The evaluation is the administration of neuropsychological tests used in the formal assessment of cognitive function. It is essential that a neuropsychological evaluation also include an evaluation of the person’s mental status. This provides clarity around the overall level of brain function which assists with determining the appropriate course of treatment or rehabilitation program.

 

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a type of psychotherapeutic approach that differs from traditional psychodynamic psychotherapy in that the therapist and the injured worker actively work together to help expedite recovery from their mental illness. People who seek CBT can expect their therapist to be problem-focused, and goal-directed in addressing the challenging symptoms of mental illnesses.

 

Independent Medical Evaluations (IME)

PsychGroup’s Independent Medical Evaluations offer the experience and resources necessary to help you obtain expert, objective medical opinions on your most challenging psychological claims. We have easy-to-use solutions to meet your specific needs, regardless of claim demographics.

 

Peer Reviews

PsychGroup supports the workers’ compensation claims process through its specialty-matched peer review services according to established criteria and guidelines while addressing causality, reasonableness/necessity, MMI, functional capacity and/or disability.

 

Fitness For Duty (FFD) Evaluations

Timely evaluation conducted by doctoral level psychologist or psychiatrist to assess an individual’s ability to work following a work incident, threat of harm or engagement in bizarre or unusual behaviors.

 

Early Intervention Program (EIP)

Founded on international research, this program identifies individuals at risk for delayed recovery due to psychosocial issues. Our program addresses other issues shown to prolong recovery, including fear of re-injury, catastrophic thoughts about injury/pain, negative expectations for recovery, passivity in rehabilitation, negative mood states, and failure to maintain activity.

TeleMentalHealth is a proprietary, internet browser based, HIPAA compliant video conferencing service which allows for real-time access to behavioral health specialists. Withdrawal Management

Substance abuse withdrawal treatment, which prevents symptoms caused by the abrupt withdrawal of substances to which patients are physically addicted, is the first phase of substance abuse rehabilitation treatment. Our Withdrawal Management program provides inpatient or outpatient treatment that is aimed at eliminating the physical cravings so that intensive counseling and psychological rehabilitation treatment can begin.

About

PsychGroup provides customized care coordination for individuals who require mental health evaluations, ongoing treatment or assistance with opioid dependency.

Finding qualified mental health providers can be a frustrating and time consuming process. PsychGroup has established a national network of premier mental and behavioral health providers capable of providing customized treatment specific to a patient’s needs. We alleviate the burden of scheduling appointments while staying actively involved on the file in order to assist in the claims management process.

Mission & Vision

PsychGroup was created to assist with the location and scheduling of Mental Healthcare Services for the Workers’ Compensation, Group Health and Government industries. Failure to align a patient with the appropriate provider typically results in delayed treatment and consequently prolonged disability.

PsychGroup has created a nationwide network of mental health practitioners who are credentialed and readily available to assist with confidential, comprehensive, and objective reporting.

The founders of PsychGroup have over 50 years of combined case management experience and know firsthand the frustration of finding and scheduling these types of services. Our goal is to streamline the referral and scheduling process specific to mental healthcare services.

Chief Executive Officer - Gary Nelson

  • Gary L. Nelson, RN, CCM, has 25 years of experience in the Medical and Insurance industries with 19 Years in the Workers Compensation Arena.
  • Nelson’s experience in the worker’s compensation arena allows him a unique understanding of the client needs. Nelson started in the Rehabilitation industry in 1989, and from 1995 to 2005 he specialized in field medical case management with a focus on catastrophic cases.
  • In 2006 he joined a premier transportation and language company that grew from 4 million in revenue to 45 million. His successful management style and industry knowledge allow him to take the lead with PsychGroup.

President - Bob Jarvis

  • Over 25 years of services in the Workers Compensation industry CDMS (Certified Disability Management Specialist) CCM (Certified Case Manager)
  • Began in 1987 as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in Florida. 1992-1999 Co-Founded Caminiti & Jarvis Associates which provided case management services throughout the Southeastern United States.
  • 1999-2010 Co-Founder & President of STOPS, INC., Transportation & Translation Services. During his tenure STOPS, INC. in 2004 was number 35 in INC 500 and was listed continuing years.
  • Fast Track LLC was founded in 2003 supplying Vehicle Conversions & Home Modifications for the disabled. Fast Track LLC was also listed in INC 5000. Stops, Inc and Fast Track LLC, were purchased in 2010 by an investment group. They continue to be the industry leader in Nationwide Transportation & Translation Services.

Chief Operating Officer - Fred Schafer

  • As Chief Operating Officer, Fred Schafer leads the Service Operations and Provider Relations groups of PsychGroup MHN LLC
  • Schafer has over 15 years of experience leading/managing large logistic, contracting and customer service workforces, with 7 of those years focused on providing services to workers compensation companies and affiliates
  • Prior to joining PsychGroup, Schafer was a key member of STOPS Enterprises/One Call Care Management from 2007-2014, where he helped drive the success and growth of both companies operational business units
  • Today Schafer leads a cross functional team of contracting and service specialists committed to delivering superior customer service while impacting cost containment through contract negotiations and network steerage

Vice President, Sales - Matt Walker

  • Matt Walker joined PsychGroup as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. With over 10 years’ experience in workers compensation sales, Matt is a welcome addition to the senior leadership team.
  • Prior to joining PsychGroup, Matt was the Regional Vice President of Sales for One Call Care Management, where he was responsible for the multi-product line expansion efforts of a regional market. As a member of the Sales Leadership Team, Matt successfully implemented several growth strategies and cross sell initiatives during his tenure. Previous to this, Matt held various industry sales positions at STOPS Enterprises and MedRisk, Inc.
  • Matt holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Public Health from Temple University.

Regional Vice President, Sales - Susan Floyd

  • Susan joined PsychGroup as Regional Vice President of Sales in 2015. She has over 21 years of sales and marketing experience in the Worker’s Compensation industry which also includes translation/transportation, managed care, pharmacy benefit programs, implants and durable medical equipment (DME).
  • Susan has won numerous awards in sales and service throughout her successful career and has helped develop long-standing relationships on a national level.
  • Prior to joining the elite leadership team at PsychGroup, Susan held national marketing positions with STOPS/One Call Care Management and Preferred Medical Network where she was responsible for generating new business development plans and building strategic partnerships with key customers. Susan is a welcome asset to PsychGroup.

Clinical Director - Dr. Kyle Babick

  • Kyle Babick, Ph.D., is a clinical and rehabilitation psychologist in Dallas, Texas. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, where he also completed his internship and continues to serve as Clinical Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Science.
  • For over 25 years, Dr. Babick has maintained a private practice in adult clinical and rehabilitation psychology, with a primary emphasis on assessment and treatment of psychological issues affecting physical injury, disability, chronic pain, and surgery.
  • He has also served as director of psychological/behavioral services for several work hardening and chronic pain programs. In addition to direct healthcare services, he is a consultant and reviewer for insurance carriers, rehabilitation consultants, and attorneys.
  • Over the last 25 years he has served on numerous advisory committees at the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission and Department of Insurance Division of Workers Compensation. His long-term interest in evidence-based practice lead to his position on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Official Disability Guidelines – Treatment in Workers’ Comp (Work Loss Data Institute).
  • His practical orientation and ability to translate psychological concepts into everyday applications has led to frequent requests for educational seminars to insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and rehabilitation consultants on mental and behavioral health issues in the workers’ compensation system.
